  • PUK Espresso was an unexpected find - I had just attended The Art of Fermentation with Sandor Katz session at Kangaroo Point and was on my way home via the Cityhopper when I stumbled upon this little off-the-beaten-track establishment.

  • After unpacking and tackling 2-weeks’ worth of laundry after 2 weeks of work travel in December, we hopped into the car to check out Primal Pantry enroute to the supermarket for the first time. We have been several times since, always for breakfast.

  • I had a half the day off while my 2-week conference gig was in Brisbane. Being a sunny Saturday morning, laziness kicked in and we didn’t wander too far from the hotel and knuckled down at South Side Diner for breakfast. But I just don't think we'd be rushing to try their lunch or dinner menu after this experience.

  • There’s roast chicken. And then there's roast chicken. La Rotisserie opened not long after the Gasworks Plaza began welcoming residents last year, and its offering is the humble roast.

  • Swimming works up an appetite, so after a shower back at the hotel, we were in the market for a good breakfast. While we walked back to the hotel, a place caught our eye - Barzura. It had been busy when we went to the beach and now walking back, we noted the buzz hadn’t waned.

  • I was lucky enough to find an all-day free on-street parking spot, so I didn't have to go home. But I had fasted with the SO and was dying for at least a decent coffee. The nurses had a couple of recommendations and gave me specific instructions on how to navigate through the inner bowels of the hospital to Boundary Street. Why do they always build hospitals like mazes?

  • The Heavens had opened up over Brisbane and I ordinarily love rainy days for the cool relief it brings. But not when we have to go out hunting for breakfast. A quick scan of my to-visit list directed me to the next nearest breakfast joint - Flute Food and Wine in our old stomping ground of Rosalie.

  • Imagine my excitement to learn there was a French café much closer to our home on Brunswick Street. Banneton Bakery is by no means a new player to the hospitality game, but we have consistently missed opportunities to sample their wares from rushing around like headless chooks fulfilling weekly chores. Will Banneton Bakery help fill the void of my little Frenchie heart?

  • We rolled up to Alcove Café and Deli, a little quaint gem hidden round the corner and out of sight from the main road. They might not be a full deli you could come to associate with the word, but they still offer quite a variety of goods and breakfast.
