  • The Jam Pantry has been on my to-visit list ever since owner Naomi Zavackas (formerly the creator of Comfort at My Table and more widely known as Nims) opened her new business on Logan Road in January this year. And we managed to do just that enroute on an Ikea run (we love our cheap furniture) and finally dropping into the Jam Pantry for breakfast.

  • I really want to love the Gettin' Place. It's a quirky hole-in-the-wall cafe with a simple menu just beyond the crazy bustle of James Street with a gorgeous garden back area for dog lovers and pram pushers, so there is lots to love.

  • Since it opened, Cafe 63 in New Farm has grown popular for its breakfasts during the week and the weekend crowd of New Farm Park visitors. And why wouldn't it? The service - while admittedly slow and sometimes neglectful - has always been welcoming and friendly to a fault. And rather than piddly tiny chairs or hippy overturned milk crates that many cafes opt for seats, Cafe 63 have gone big with their seating - catering well to large family and friends groups.

  • These days, life has slowed down a little and I don't have to suck down my caffeine as I powerwalk from meeting to meeting. So even though I was visiting the Di Bella Coffee drive through on Abbortsford Road in Bowen Hills, I decided to park the car and stop on in.

  • Degraves Street rarely disappoints when one is in need of early morning nourishment and La Citta happened to be one of its earliest operators - a boon when you have a baby who wakes you up at 6am.

  • King Arthur Cafe deserved at least three visits. Tucked off down Arthur Street (just off the much busier James Street), King Arthur Cafe is the latest offering from the same team behind the South Brisbane cafe Merriweather, so it's no surprise they have a similar ethos - local and sustainable.
