  • Not to be mistaken with the Japanese restaurant of the same moniker in Crows Nest, Sydney, Adelaide's Ryo's Noodles first opened in 2014 to fill the gaping ramen hole on Adelaide's Asian eatery strip, Gouger Street. Two years later, Ryo's Noodles seemed to be going strong with a steady stream of hungry customers, eager for warm soup and noodles to boister themselves against the winter chill.

  • My first visit to Hawker's Cuisine was a mere three years ago, but oh, have the times changed. The new Hawker's Cuisine location is one expansive floor of dining with lots of space between to navigate a pram. No wonder it was still popular with extensive Asian family gatherings.

  • Perth has changed a bit since our last visit. There is now a Melbourne-sique vibe to the laneway action this west coast city has developed, adding to the excitement of urban exploration for us visitors. Taka Japanese Cuisine was one of these fortunate wrong-turn discoveries and we were not disappointed to have our Monday dinner there.

  • Sydney seemed full of hole-in-the-wall coffee joints for those on the run, but we had trouble finding a breakfast place that coaxed you to linger. Delisse on Clarance Street was the first we encountered and I fell in love with their pastry display.

  • When you think of Bondi Beach, the picture in your mind's eye might be of the white sand, crashing surf, suntanned bodies, buff lifesavers and fish and chips. In fact, chowing down on piping hot chips and crispy fish fillets goes hand in hand with sand between your toes down here. Yet we found ourselves slurping away at Handmade Noodle & Dumpling Kitchen in Bondi.

  • Dominique Rizzo, one of Queensland's most recognisable female chefs, opened Putia Pure Food Kitchen early last year and it has been on my to-visit list ever since. I was chuffed to take up the opportunity to join her March Mushroom Masterclass, an exclusive and small hands on class in partnership with the mushroom growers of Australia last week.
