  • I don’t even remember what business used to be where Beach Burrito Company is now, but what Beach Burrito Company have done with the place is a million times better. They have created a chill tropical explosion of colour and if you push further back, they have a great outdoor seating area out back. It might not be sand between your toes (in fact, I highly recommend NOT kicking off your shoes), but it comes pretty darn close.

  • It's that time of year again when if you're Chinese, the phrase 新年快乐! is recited as loudly and cheerfully as 'Merry Christmas!' in December. And if that's not enough of a reason to celebrate, Peng You China Kitchen and Bar threw an amazing celebration to mark their official opening at Gasworks, complete with Tron-style lions and dragon to scare away evil spirits and welcome the new year.

  • I had a half the day off while my 2-week conference gig was in Brisbane. Being a sunny Saturday morning, laziness kicked in and we didn’t wander too far from the hotel and knuckled down at South Side Diner for breakfast. But I just don't think we'd be rushing to try their lunch or dinner menu after this experience.

  • Limes Hotel's have revamped their Rooftop Bar and it's looking very sweet with the addition of two round plunge pools - a perfect summer feature. It is also quite possibly the only venue space I found astroturf perfectly acceptable. If you loved the original Rooftop Bar, don't worry - the amazing view overlooking the Valley and open-air (an auto sail shade was extended overhead to protect us from the worst of the midday rays) are still there to be savored.

  • I was lucky enough to find an all-day free on-street parking spot, so I didn't have to go home. But I had fasted with the SO and was dying for at least a decent coffee. The nurses had a couple of recommendations and gave me specific instructions on how to navigate through the inner bowels of the hospital to Boundary Street. Why do they always build hospitals like mazes?
