Our first property

It has been quiet around here, but all for a very good reason.

We have purchased our first property!

The last couple of weeks has been insanely busy! We have finally moved into our new apartment after almost 8 years in our rental. While I am really quite sorry to say goodbye to our lovely New Farm apartment, I am looking forward to creating some new memories in our new home.

So while we’re still busy unpacking, I thought I might quickly whip up this post for anyone who is also looking for a new home.

We are incredibly lucky to have been able to work with some amazing people, who have helped make this daunting journey a little bit smoother. And yes, I can definitely recommend them.

We’ve been hunting for a place of our own for a couple of years, so we’ve bumped into Ruby Kiriyama from Ray White New Farm at a few home opens.

Ruby has been exceptionally lovely to interact with. She used tools, such as DocuSign to make signing contracts easy (signing and scanning paper pages is annoying). She was always happy to work with us to get access to the apartment before settlement, making it much easier for us to get the renovation work started immediately.

And it certainly didn’t hurt that she sent us a lovely housewarming hamper of Dello Mano brownies, rocky road, oat cookes and Moet. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again.

Nikki Gough from Swift Legal was a recommendation from the in-laws, who are chronic property buyers and sellers. She’s been absolutely brilliant, working over the phone and email very quickly. When we first engaged her services, she provided heaps of information and provided very pragmatic and logical suggestions and recommendations. She sends us reminders and we’ve never had to chase her for information.

Who ever heard of a tradie who turns up early for appointments?! Well, Mark from Dynamic Ceramic Tiling does.

  • He picked up his phone the first time I called him.
  • If he misses my call, he calls me back the same day.
  • He arrived early for the apartment viewing to do his estimate.
  • He sent his quote via email when he said he would.
  • He arrived with his team at 8am on Day 1 of renovations, as promised.
  • He finished the tiling job only a day late.
  • His prices are extremely reasonable.
  • His is a family run business.

Sanya Rohoska was a recommendation from Tom’s boss and did a stellar job of moving us from one apartment to the other in a little over 5.5 hours. I haven’t found a single broken glass, plate or furniture. He also has an amazing rate for the provision of a rental truck and 2 person labour. His mobile is 0431739007.
