[Adelaide] Breakfast at My Kingdom for a Horse

It was a cold and wet morning. While the SO was getting dressed, I scrolled through a couple of suggested breakfast cafes and was impressed by the feedback for My Kingdom for a Horse. Everything lovely everyone had to say about them  is well deserved! We had breakfast at My Kingdom for a Horse and took friends Sassystrawberry and Erushi for theirs too.

Parking was a breeze, but as I mentioned earlier, the rain might’ve kept people home. We found on-street parking spots less than 20 metres from My Kingdom for a Horse‘s front door both occasions we went in that morning.

Once inside the warmth of the glass walls, we were quickly ushered to available tables. Many of them were set up for groups – yay for social breakfasts!

The SO’s choice – the omelette loaded with roasted potatoes, silverbeet and smoked mozzarella. Throw on some Newberry and Watson air dried ham and the dish costs AUD$21. A fantastic little hearty number with all the freshness anyone deserves first thing in the morning.

My Kingdom for a Horse - Waffles with honey poached stone fruits, toasted almonds and double cream. AUD$18.50

But if you want something truly Instagram-worthy, put your money on the waffles. Two pillowy waffle tiles soaked up the honey poached fruits, which I think included pear. Those poached fruit were utterly perfect: not overly sweet, and soft enough to cut with a butter knife yet firm enough to stab with a fork. Toasted almond flakes provided some crunch and a delicate pansy bloom topped the dollop of double cream.

And just because we weren’t keen on sharing (and Bubby was hungry), we ordered a side of sourdough toast with scrambled eggs.
