Greek Street Grill at Surfers Paradise

When you’ve spent the morning at the beach, burning all your breakfast calories.

And the growling of your tummy would scare away starving grizzly bears.

This – my friends – is your new BFF.

Greek Street Grill at Surfers Paradise

The Greek Street Grill‘s Kalamaki Grill Platter!

Feeds two hungry souls to the max with two soutzoukaki (spicy oblong kofta), two pork and two chicken kalamaki, four palm sized pita breads, and two dipping sauces (tzatziki and aioli) to go with fries.

I’m not a huge fan of the soutzoukaki – the meat lacked texture and felt like mush in the mouth – nor the fluro bright yellow fries – radioactive status pending, but everything else was much more civil. Save the dipping sauces, everything arrived piping hot. My fave – the chicken kalamaki.

Most of Greek Street Grill food preparation was done in plain sight for customers to study, including the grilling. With the sheer volume of orders, we felt assured everything was freshly prepared.

Oh, and the Kalamaki Grill Platter came with a heaping bowl of crisp slaw salad, generously loaded with shredded cheese.

That’s as long as you can find a seat. Located at The Esplanade, Greek Street Grill was packed when we rocked up around 11:45am for an early lunch on Sunday. So bring on your mad eagle eyes and swift feet. You’re gonna need them.
