Domino’s new Chef’s Best Pulled Beef pizza range

It’s that time of year again. The seasons are finally turning, and both Brisbane’s temperature and humidity is heading southward. This week has seen such a deluge of rain, that the SO quipped would make this year’s Easter a miserably wet one, not unlike a similar one a few years ago when we had decided to drive to the town of 1770 in a moment of spontanity.

Domino’s must have a better weatherman on their books than the national television stations, for they have just launched their latest Chef’s Best pizza range to match the cooling weather – Domino’s new Chef’s Best Pulled Beef pizza range.

We got to try Domino’s pulled pork range last year and came away quite impressed with the chilli lime pulled pork pizza and the Belgian dark chocolate brownie, so were eager to sample what the Domino’s kitchens have whipped up for this new range.

Unfortunately due to my gestational diabetes, stuffing my face with pizza would make my endocrinologist very upset, so while I did grab several bites, I enlisted the help of the SO’s colleagues to better taste test the range (thanks guys!).

Hickory BBQ Pulled Beef

The Hickory BBQ Pulled Beef, the beef cousin of their previous Pulled Pork Meatlovers pizza, comes complete with slow cooked pulled beef, rasher bacon, pepperoni, red onion and mozzarella on a BBQ sauce base, topped with a Hickory BBQ sauce swirl.

This one was sweet from the BBQ sauce and loaded with meaty toppings, but if you’re a meatlovers fan and devoted carnivore, this one will not serve you wrong.

Spicy Harissa Pulled Beef

However if you’re looking for a little heat under the collar, the Spicy Harissa Pulled Beef should be your pick. This pizza was topped with slow cooked pulled beef, pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh tomato, red onion, jalapenos and mozzarella topped with a generous sprinkling of chilli flakes and a spicy harissa sauce.

Everyone who tasted it said there was nothing in the Spicy Harissa Pulled Beef that should have you sweating and screaming blue murder (each person had varying levels of spice tolerances), but there’s enough to make tucking into a slice delightfully pleasurable and all three dudes voted this was the best flavour of the three in the range.

Argentinian Pulled Beef

Domino's new Chef's Best Pulled Beef RangeThe final installation of Domino’s new pulled beef range is the Argentinian Pulled Beef, with slow cook pulled beef, fresh tomato, red onion & mozzarella topped with a chimichurri drizzle.

The topping combination made for a much lighter pizza and something I wouldn’t mind seeing as a regular addition to Domino’s pizza repertoire. The flavour unfortunately was less punchy than the Spicy Harissa Pulled Beef, but if you absolutely cannot tolerate any spice and would rather avoid the coyingly sweet Hickory BBQ Pulled Beef, the Argentinian Pulled Beef would be your safe bet.

Oven Baked Churros

Domino’s certainly hasn’t forgotten those with a sweet tooth. They have also introduced their Oven Baked Churros, which are dusted with cinnamon sugar and served with the same runny decadent dark chocolate dipping sauce as their Belgian hot choc fudge brownies.

While these arrived beautifully warm (perfect for the rainy day we were having), I noticed the paper they arrived in had patches of oil spots, so I’m not very convinced these were baked. Unfortunately everyone who tried these were not wowed with the doughy texture.

Domino’s new Chef’s Best Pulled Beef pizza range is already available at their stores, so if you’re looking to stay in this wet Easter long weekend, maybe bunker down with one of their pulled beef pizzas to keep you company with a movie rental (or the new Australian Netflix!).
