Cowch

Cowch

Launched 23 May, Cowch is the latest addition to a growing strip of late night temptations in South Brisbane. Touting itself as Queensland’s first cocktail dessert bar, Cowch wants to attract the naughty and nice people of Brisbane with its selection of craft cocktails and decadent desserts.

Cowch

A particularly interesting concept, Cowch has brought to the table is their ‘naked pop’ – a Lick! ice-cream on a stick. Available pop flavours were vanilla, chocolate, coffee, mint and pomegranate. You can dip your naked pop in a white, milk or dark chocolate coating and then decorate it with adornments, such as berries, chocolate pearls, shredded coconut, brownie, mini marshmallows, almond tuile and even raw seed mix for the healthy people. This one was a vanilla pop dipped in dark chocolate and generously sprinkled with Flake and crushed pistachios.

But if you’re still into the yoghurt dessert phase, Cowch has got your back with 22 chilled yoghurt flavours, which are featured in many of their dessert menu items. I don’t even know how you can come up with more than 10 flavours, but Cowch have and it blows my mind. I only saw 4 at the launch: original, watermelon, chocolate and pistachio. My combo: the original with oat crumble, though the brownie add-on looked so good.

Adult only guilty pleasures include honey and rum grilled bananas served with vanilla bean ice-cream, toasted marshmallow served with Baileys-infused chocolate shot, and strawberry margarita jello shots. My vote went to the creamy marshmallow martini, though the assortment of craft beers with flavours like strawberry or peach looked very popular with other launch attendees.

Cowch

Open seven days from 7am til late, Cowch also offers a couple of sweet numbers for breakfast. Fancy curros or crepes? Or perhaps something a tad lighter and healthier, such as bircher muesli and fruit, to go with your first coffee of the day sounds more attractive? I am rather intrigued by their breakfast udder puffs – 3 mini puffs served with fresh banana, strawberries and mixed berries drizzled with maple syrup.
