  • With only a general direction to guide us, we set off with our eyes open for a spot that both looked promising and peaceful – as it turned out, Bangbang Espresso Bar and Cafe was only around the corner and met both requirements very nicely.

  • Oden House might initially strike the impression that it is a Japanese eatery with its tempting menu of bento trays and oden, but upon closer inspection, one might notice the traditional Chinese writing alongside the English and come to the realisation Oden House is actually Taiwanese.

  • Peasant has been on my to-visit list for ages, but with the crazy week I've been having, I wasn't able to muster as much excitement about paying the establishment a visit for a Sunday dinner catch-up with friends as it deserves.

  • If you haven’t heard about Swampdog Fish and Chips, their key selling point is that they support sustainable fish. What with the overfishing and waste one sees in the fishing industry, it’s heartening to see an establishment commit to being conscious about its impact on the industry and seeking to provide an alternative to those who love fish.

  • The Noodle Haus kiosk is much like every other stall in the Westfield Carindale food court - orders are made and paid for. The SO tucked into his Noodle Haus laksa in fervour and quipped once that he loved the sliced barbeque pork. After the meal, he even patted his tummy in satisfaction and said it hit the spot.

  • Leaf Espresso Bar is truly a hidden gem. It wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to think it's unlikely anyone who does not live in the suburb would think to find this cafe bar, because it is well nestled in the greenery of mature tree lined suburbia. Even the frontage seemed initially unassuming.

This was a completely new experience and I felt my inexperience most when I stepped up to my first trawler to ask about their spanner crabs.
