Hunting for food over the Christmas-New Year break is a bit of a “beggars cannot be choosers” affair. Particularly when you’re spending it in an area you’re not familiar with. Apps such as Urbanspoon or Yelp don’t necessarily have information on eateries’ opening hours over this period, so it usually comes down to good ole luck.
We stumbled upon Blessings Cafe in Yandina. It is located inside a furniture store, so we almost missed it due to the large hand-painted sale signs draped over most of the windows. In fact, our vision was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of goods upon entering, that had we not been starving, we might’ve simply drove into the maze of wares to do a little exploring.
Set to the right of the shop, Blessings Cafe had several punters comfortably partaking in lunch. After studying the menu, we were told there were also chef’s specials up on the chalkboard and several items in their chiller window.
While their coffee is weak, it was served with a large chocolate chip (a first in my experience) and is thankfully not acidic nor bitter.
The food is tasty and cheap. The salads were especially fresh. For the price, I would have expected a dull salad leaf or two, but instead was presented with a fresh and crunchy combination that was well-dressed. My only gripe was that sliced white sandwich bread was used, but otherwise, lunch was wholesome and filling.

NEW: Lunch at Blessings Cafe in Yandina http://t.co/kfxPAILz
Yandina and the name of this cafe reminds me of a funny story. I had coffee last week with two ladies who are crystal huggers and they went on and on about how Yandina has such negative energy – nowhere near as positive as Nambour. “Must be because it’s so low between the mountains.” All I could do was silently roll my eyes.
I’m eager to go to Yandina and check out Blessings and see how the energy is.
I apologise if you’re a crystal hugger.
I did a quick Google search and couldn’t find much information on crystal huggers. Is that a literal term (ie. they literally hug crystals)?
