Eat.Drink.Blog 2012, popping my conference cherry

The Eat.Drink.Blog 2012 weekend has gone in a bit of a blur, but it has been a blast! I knew going to the conference for the very first time was going to blow my mind, but wow.

Being surrounded by people who don’t give you funny looks when you spend 5 mins photographing your meal – even though you’re hungry enough to eat a moose and in fact, they’re right there next to you, snapping their own shots – is almost like being in Heaven. They get it and are not ashamed to show it.

And the food? Freaking amazing, but I don’t wanna spoil it just yet.

It wasn’t all fun and games either. The ‘Local and Seasonal’ panel discussion with Tammi Jonas and Simon Bryant was definitely up there in invoking debate about ethical eating and how social expectations might look like for vegetarians/vegans. Unfortunately due to the time constraints, the discussion did not go as in-depth as I would’ve liked, but delegates Tara of vegeTARAian and Lauren of Corridor Kitchen have explored some of the arguments presented in their recent blogposts.

I don’t know how long this buzz might last, but I am dying to share the experience in the next few posts.

In the meantime, check out Simon Leong of Simon Food Favorite‘s video montage of the conference. Bet you cannot spot me.
