Work-in-progress: my first quilt

After approximately 10 hours and a trip to Spotlight (to pick up backing fabric and 100% cotton batting), I am thrilled to finally see my first quilt coming together.

Yes, it’s full of mistakes, but I have learnt a number of lessons from it.

  1. If you don’t know how to do something, check Google and Youtube.
Someone’s probably already written a tutorial and/or posted a video to help you out.
  2. A single bed size quilt is actually a lot bigger than you think.
I had to refill the sewing machine’s bobbin 4 times.
  3. Patchwork is really not as difficult or complicated as I thought it would be.

All that is left is the trimming and that will be several hours of hand-stitching. Not looking forward to that bit.
