Baharat lamb with hommus, mozzarella, roasted red peppers and zucchini. AUD$20.50

Since our first visit to Vespa Pizza, I haven’t had much of a chance to drop by again despite being so close. The SO, on the other hand, has sampled more of their pizzas, delivered to the office on those occasional late work nights.

But after an especially long wet day, the SO wasn’t taking to any of my ideas for a home cooked dinner and we found ourselves in front of Vespa Pizza. They had a booked out house, but offered us a table if we could be finished with dinner before 7:30pm. It was 6pm, so no problem!

Nutella and marshmallow calzone with vanilla gelato. AUD$10.50

Sitting inside, close to the wood fired oven was cozy and whilst exchanging the day’s experiences, we idly wiped out our iPhones/iPads to check in on the day’s news and tweets. Blasphemy to some, but we’re a working couple with too much geekery between us to attune ourselves to high-brow social expectations. The staff in Vespa Pizza certainly didn’t seem to mind, whipping out their own little handheld device to punch in our order.

Their pizzas haven’t disappointed yet and certainly not their dessert calzone. If Vespa Pizza wasn’t getting as busy as it did, I would’ve raised the place to my face and licked it clean – that’s how good it was.

If you love wood fired pizzas, I don’t need to recommend you try them straight out of the oven. Just don’t forget to call ahead to make a reservation.
